Removal of Lead Ions from Polluted Water Using Plantago major L. and Phaseolus vulgaris L
نویسندگان
چکیده
This study focuses on lead detoxification using roots, stems, leaves and whole plants of Plantago major L. and Phaseolus vulgaris L. (decoration kidney bean) as a ball hanging hydroponically in deionized water supplemented with concentrations of lead ion under different duration times and temperatures regimes. Roots of studied plants showed that the highest removal of lead than other parts, while using a mixture of whole plants were more efficient than using each one alone. The largest amounts of lead 85, 77 and 71 % were accumulated in roots of P. major + P. vulgaris, P. major alone and P. vulgaris alone, respectively. The highest rate of Pb ions uptake from the medium took place during the first 2-days of incubation and after 5-days of incubation, lead content in the medium decreased by half. This study suggested that roots of P. major + P. vulgaris could be used removal of pollutants from water contaminated with lead.

Evaluation of natural zeolite clinoptilolite efficiency for the removal of ammonium and nitrate from aquatic solutions
Background: Surface water and groundwater pollution with various forms of nitrogen such as ammonium and nitrate ions is one of the main environmental risks. The major objectives of this study were to evaluate the capacity of natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) to remove NO3- and NH4+ from polluted water under both batch and column conditions. Methods: The laboratory batch and column experiments we...

Factor analysis is one of the multivariate statistical techniques that considers the interrelationships between apparently irrelevant variables and helps researchers to find the hidden reasons for the occurrence of an event. In order to evaluate the effects of different irrigation levels and humic acid foliar application and identify the factors affecting water use efficiencies of sesame (Sesam...
متن کاملRemoval of Lead from Aquatic Solution Using Synthesized Iron Nanoparticles
Due to its ability in chemical oxidation of contaminants, iron nanoparticle is a material of choice to remove lead ions from aquatic solutions. In this study a reduction method in solution phase was applied to synthesize thenanoparticles. Afterwards, the size of the synthesized particles were confirmed by Scanning Electron Microscopy. It is worth noting that th...
